*future me banging my head against the computer screen*
So before I start this post I have a bit of a storytime.
If you are a blogger you know how wonderful it feels to have a well-written post completed, right? You feel so accomplished and proud of the work put into it.
That’s exactly what I felt like. Until I turned my computer off….
And somehow didn’t press save….
So when I turned my computer back on to do some last minute editing…
The internet was out..
And I reloaded the page..
My beautiful creation was gone.
So here I am again, typing away trying to make up for lost time.
Current time: 10:53 p.m. (5/27/19)
Current brain cell(s) remaining: 0
So I am going to apologize now if this isn’t the best-written post ever, because I will probably be up writing this until 1am.
Now here is where I make a friendly introduction and pretend none of this happened…
Welcome back to my blog!
I’m sorry I’ve been absent these past two weeks. I’ve been CRAZY busy between school and after school activities, so it was hard to write some posts. But, I’m gonna make up for that with this extra long post. 😉
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE reading “Day in my Life” posts.
So I decided to write my own with a little twist.
If you have read my Welcome to my Blog post or my About page, you would know that I’m a dancer! So imma show you what my day is like during days I have dance classes.
I have classes Mondays and Wednesdays. Mondays I have one class and Wednesdays I have two classes back to back (making it a 3 hour session >:P), so I’ve decided to base this post on my Wednesday routines since it is a more event-filled day.
Let’s get to it!
I start my day off at 7:30 am (Or at least I try to. Sometimes I end up getting up at 8:30ish instead because I’m a bad little bean x3). The first thing I do in my blurry-eyed daze is take my little pupper outside to use the restroom if nobody is already up and has taken him out. And then I snuggle his wittle’ head because he is so cuteeeee. *already acknowledging how I sound like the crazy dog lady*
After my doggo decides he’d rather chew on his slobber covered bone than deal with my smothering, I go get dressed and start my beauty routine.
For my outfit, I get right into my dance clothes. I wear the typical leotard and tights, but my studio requires us to wear a t-shirt and a pair of shorts over top for modesty.
My beauty routine on dance days is pretty basic. I just wash my face, brush my teeth, and curl my eyelashes. That’s it! 😀
As for my hair, I usually just wear it in a bun. My studio requires us to wear buns on Mondays and then we can wear our hair however we want on Wednesdays as long as our hair is out of our faces. I personally prefer just wearing buns because it’s just convenient. 🙂
Here’s how I do my bun:
- I pull my hair into a ponytail.
- Braid the ponytail.
- Wrap the ponytail around my head until I have the desired bun.
- Secure with hair pins, hair ties, and scrunchies.
Once I’m properly awake I get straight into my schoolwork. I start dance at 12:45 so I try to use up as much time as possible.
Somewhere between smothering my dog and starting my schoolwork, I try to read my morning Bible plan. I’ll admit: I am absolutely terrible about remembering to do this. But, alas I am not perfect and am trying to get better at making it my main focus in the mornings! 🙂
Now you may be asking, “Saege what about breakfast?” or maybe you aren’t and want me to shut up and continue with the post. Either way, I’m gonna be honest. I usually don’t eat breakfast.
*insert sitcom gasps here*
I know I know, not the healthiest choice, especially being in such a strenuous sport (I can hear my dance teacher’s disappointment from here). I’ve never eaten much of a breakfast unless my mom makes me 1) choke down some food or else (I’m just joking please don’t take me seriously o.o) or 2) grab something small like a banana or clementine. More often it’s the latter.
I end school roughly around noon. Check out my post >HERE< to find out how to finish your schoolwork quickly and effectively with a compilation of the things I’ve tried and tested with myself. (Shameless plug am I right? XD)
So now is the part of my day where I madly rush around to grab lunch, pack my dance bag, and fill my water bottle.
For lunch, it’s usually leftovers from yesterday’s dinner or previous dinners (Unless my mom makes lunch before I get done with my schoolwork. Thank you Mom! <3)
My dance bag for the most part is already pre-packed. I use my old swim team bag, because it is so big and has so much storage space for all of my dance supplies. The only things I have to put in my bag are my slides, water bottle, and my phone.
Now it’s out the door and off to dance!
The first thing we do in class is sit around our teacher in a circle and recite our ASL Bible Verse. Every session we practice and learn a new verse to recite at the end of the session (this session we are reciting Colossians 3:12-17).
Once we’ve finished our recitation our teacher gives us any updates we need to know about the studio or an upcoming show. We are currently preparing for our annual June show! I’m so excited for this opportunity to spread the good news of God’s Word to those who may not have heard it before or have taken anything from it. We are performing in a community that is currently in a bit of a dark place, so I’m excited to see what Christ has planned through our performance!
With all updates out of the way, it’s time to get down to business. Most of the class is spent rehearsing our pieces for the show during this time. So far my company is performing four performances, one of which is in the works of finishing up with choreographing.
Towards the end of class our teacher sometimes has us stretch out our splits, and that’s it for class!
Once I get home it’s another mad rush because I have to get my chores done, get a shower, and get dinner before it’s time for youth group.
Youth group ends around 8:30, and then the rest of the night is spent relaxing.
Before bed I like to read a book (I’m currently reading Flashback by Shannon Messenger. Who else is super excited for the new Keeper of the Lost Cities book this fall? :D), sketch, or work on planning for future blog posts.
And there you have it! I hope this helped you get to know me a bit better and get a little glimpse of what it is like to be a dancer!
Before you go, I’ve decided to do a poll this month for future posts. I would super duper appreciate it if you would take the poll and cast in your votes for what you would like to see upcoming on my blog! I love hearing feedback from you!
Until next time…
